New Music Friday: Junior London 🔊🔥

Friday means fresh new music! We are excited to announce our #NewMusicFriday blog series, where we will be featuring artists and their new tracks hitting the airwaves. This week we linked up with the very dope Junior London to preview his upcoming 'The Meat Baker E.P.' and have a chat about, music, Covid-19 and his future plans.

  1. Who is Junior London/ The Meat Baker ?

Junior London is my creative identity. Ultimately everything that I do and that I pursue creativity comes from that side of me and from that alias. Its kind of hard to describe but it's a side to me that feels empowered when it comes to making music and art and is not afraid of what other people may think of the things that he puts out. Hence the alien. He's outta this world hahahaha, totally disengaged with all of the standard practices of earth and completely in his own creative zone.

  1. Tell us about your new project , inspiration etc ?

So my new project is a 6 track EP. It's split nicely in half with 3 sample based, light, mellow and enjoyable 'summery' kind of tracks and 3 more aggressive and bassy hip-hop tracks. The EP features a lot of synthetic sounds and elements over what might be considered as traditional hip hop in order to really accentuate the extra terrestrial vibe. AND as if that isn't enough there is also a track on there featuring my bro Mic Ty which I like to think evoques that classic hip-hop producer and MC collaborative vibe.

  1. We really love your graphics , tell us more about that?

Ahhhh thank you! The graphics are the best way I feel comfortable displaying my identity online. It's not so much about having personal anonymity it's more like a presentation of the part of me that creates what you are hearing. It's hard to describe but this alien, this is what he makes hahahaha.

  1. How has Covid -19 impacted your creative process?

Erm, it was a blessing in disguise, it really gave me the time I needed to focus on music and also helped me decide what I want from my life. You know, pre-covid I was managing a night club and we lost the venue shortly after the first lockdown. This kind of pushed me to look for another job and as I was job hunting I realised what I truly wanted. So I got in the studio and got to work.

  1. What can we look forward to next from Junior London / The Meat Baker

Hopefully more collaborations!! I really want to develop my style along with some of the super exciting vocal talent that's in the UK right now. I'm not gonna say any names ahahah but hopefully you'll start to see more animated content, video content and the real fun side to this sort of music. if I can encourage people to bring that out on the mic!
