Br⏂⏂ke

BR⏂⏂KE is a Topliner vocalist & producer living in East London. BR⏂⏂KE’s eclectic style takes inspiration from a childhood filled with Madonna, Bob Marley, Jameroqui, MJ, Disco music at home and jazz and classical music played at a lifetime of dance lessons. In more recent years it was the house & techno artists filling the warehouses of East London where BROOKE fixated on the synths and sounds that minimal tech at the time was introducing-

It was the music at these parties that inspired BR⏂⏂KES most recent dive into producing her own electronic music. When listening to BROOKES early production It’s clear these parties helped shape and develop her bouncy, atmospheric, deep sound full of body with addictive vocal hooks- the same sounds that first hooked her to the east london minimal house scene back in 2010.

During lockdown BR⏂⏂KE self taught herself the basics of producing electronic music and recording her own vocals at home. A friend had previously installed Logic Pro onto her Mac computer and this was to ignite her recent delve into the world of top lining, production and collaborating with various artists from around the world during a time when the whole planet was in turmoil.

In 2021 BR⏂⏂KE is set to release debut collaborative tracks with some great international DJ’s

Ajita

I run a Plantbased business called Chaat Stop (we are on insta), bringing you food from South and North Indian Streetfood. Munch that fills my heart belly with joy. Fully nonsense free in terms of flavours, textures and feeling. Food is my love language but it would be until I became a mother that I realised how much I love feeding people. Prior to that you will be lucky if you even saw me making a cup of tea!

Food is so special. It’s education on a plate but also bringing people together, sharing laughter and moments. Food is so much more than just filling your bellies. It’s a safe haven for many. Including myself. My family are in India and not being able to see them as often as I would like to, food is the closest thing that comes to focusing back to my roots. Learning where I’m from through the food I create. Being a caregiver is truly a privilege and I take that job quiet seriously. Food should be inclusive and that’s what I try and achieve with my business. Catering for everyone from my heart.

This is my blog it will give a glimpse of who I am and why food is my love language.

1. How did you meet?

Brooke: We met through my husband Ajay 10 years ago and instantly hit it off (hardly surprising as they are both wild) Ajita met my husband at uni. Sharing a love of unorthodox fashion, cooking soul food and staying up till the birds chirped they formed a sisterly bond that we've held in high regard ever since.

Ajita's two children and her husband have become a second family to myself and my husband and they look forward to lots of family fun in the future.

Ajita: When I met Brooke there was an instant bond, a spark of light. Almost like a safe space in her energy. Someone that lifts you without really knowing she does it. She’s big love. She’s that sister that really exudes this sunshine energy. She is family and I always thank the universe and both our husbands for bringing us together. Pure Magic!!

2. How did you get ready for the photoshoot?

We prepared on the eve of the shoot by whittling each others outfits choices (out of 100) down to just three each, carefully decided over a beer of course.

3. What was the photoshoot like?

An early start gave the girls just enough time to wake up excited and before they knew it settling into makeup and styling by 8am!

Brooke went for a Smokey and sultry look and Ajita asked for a bright, quirky neon eyeliner. Their make up choices unconsciously reflecting their contrasting outfit choices perfectly.

Both loved the shoot, felt privileged to wear the jewellery and were absolutely buzzing to be part of the shoot where they felt humbled to be part of the Stööki movement.

Post shoot celebrations were a glass of fizz before noon!
