#ArtThursdays: - David Tebbs ‘Passing Through’ Exhibition  🎨⚡👀

We didn't have to go far for this week's installment of Art Thursday. The show took place on site of the Stööki Studio in Greenwich! 😃 30 April - 22 May 2022

David Tebbs' paintings derive from the everyday experience of urban life in London. Station platforms, staircases, parks and playgrounds become stages where a single figure or group of figures interact with one another and their surroundings.

David hopes to create a tension between the familiar and somewhat known with the unexpected and chance encounters. The value of these transient moments has become more apparent to us all in the last two years of having to adapt to a more restricted way of life.

About David Tebbs

Based at Thames-Side Studios, David Tebbs (b. 1945) studied Painting at Camberwell School of Art and MA Fine Art at Goldsmiths' College, London. He has been a practising painter since 1982 with works held in private and public collections.

The familiarity of the regular commute between home and studio at different times of the day, night and season is particularly relevant to this experience.

It was really nice to see David's approach to capturing Londoner's daily commute and capture a snapshot of his subjects life through painting.

Overall, the exhibition and the anonymity of his figures make the viewer relate to every day life and our daily journey's through the capital.

Thames-Side Studios Lounge is located on the second floor of Unit 0 and open to all studio holders and by appointment. To arrange a visit to see Passing Through contact David by email davidtebbs@hotmail.co.uk
