Stööki's Artist Statement

Stööki is a movement that began in 2011 in London.  We design, produce and curate. Interpreting our multidisciplinary philosophy of Art, Music and Fashion through the Stööki elements that are Sound, Vision and Play.

Stööki will perform a live DJ and VJ set in the Tate gallery. The ‘I N F I N I T Y Realm’ performance combines a soundscape mixed live with large-scale moving image visuals and projections. You are invited to explore the Realm's installation zone, displayed in which are jewellery-making tools and six artworks hand-made by the Stööki Craft Makers that are inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s artworks. The combination of the art piece immerses you in this experience.

The visuals you are seeing consist of moving image pieces created by Stööki in response to Yayoi Kusama’s artworks and are inspired by the Yayoi Kusama Mirror Infinity Rooms. The projected visuals have a kaleidoscopic feel, fusing Stööki’s handcrafted jewellery designs into abstract patterns of repetition that are ever evolving.  Handcrafted metal shapes morph into polka dot patterns, hand-drawn tentacles oscillate and multi-coloured flames flicker, creating the landscape of the realm.

The ‘I N F I N I T Y Realm' soundscape,  performed by DJ Lukey, is live mixed during the evening.  His selection is made in response to the exhibition and is inspired by Yayoi Kusama’s artworks. Blending together a mix of music Yayoi Kusama has influenced, such as ‘Peter Gabriel - Lovetown’, with an array of Electronic music that has a focus on repetition, looping and delay effects that mirror the I N F I N I T Y visuals.
