THE LEGACY STORY… MUDI EGHWEREE

Quincey Williams

Check out the next instalment in the Stööki Legacy Story… The Stööki Craft Makers invited Illustrator & Graphic Design extraordinaire and good friend Mudi Eghweree down to the Stööki studio for a catch up. Have a peep at the interview below and see how he rocked our new Legacy T-Shirt too... #TheStookiLegacy

Name? Mudi Chris Eghweree

What’s your craft? Illustration + Graphic Design

Song you can’t get out of your head? I go through transitions of listening to a whole range of different types of music. In the winter I listen to a lot of oldschool rock and indie and in summer it's more of a house and old school disco vibe. Recently Ive been listening to a lot of Kaytranda, Motor City Drum Ensemble, The Horrors and Interpol.

Describe your Fashion style? Black on black on black everything. I don't have a particular style I just buy things I like.

What’s your main source of inspiration + influence? A lot of my inspiration comes from an internal place. I get inspiration from my own thoughts and then secondly from friends, family and people around me.

My main influences include me being a massive fan of Roy Lichtenstein. I also really like 80s illustrator Patrick Nagel and American Graphic Designer & Illustrator Cody Hudson.

Your ideal day off? Something like today. Hanging and chilling with friends and having some good banter. I don't believe in having to spend loads of money to have loads of fun I just go with the flow. A favourite saying of mine is  #goodtimeswithgoodpeople

Plans for 2015? I aim to push my creativity more. Learn new creative skills and to put on another exhibition at some point as well that’s  bigger and better than my last.

What you like about The Stooki Movement? The main thing I like about The Stooki Movement is that I've watched you guys grow from nothing to something. I like how creative and inspirational how you guys. Having seen your journey and the way you have grown into the force you are now is something I really admire. Literally i've never know such a creative  group people. You guys are a massive inspiration to me, Stööki is inspirational!

Favourite Quote/SayingLife is so brief and time is thief

What’s your craft? Apprentice hat maker.

Song you can’t get out of your head? Outkast - Hey Ya / D’Angelo v Beyonce - Untitled Rocket (How Does It Feel Mash Up) / The Internet - Shadowdance / Miles Davis - Sunshine

Describe your Fashion style? Hat always comes first. I would always start with the hat  and work out my outfit from there. You could also describe it as british gentleman with a twist (playful).

What’s your main source of inspiration + influence? My father. He has been a rock within the family andI admire him because he is consistent in everything he does and he doesn’t believe in the word “can’t”.

Your ideal day off? Hanging out with friends and family. Eating, drinking tea and possibly hat shopping too!

Plans for 2014? Just to continue with pushing the movement ‘Hat About Town’ and to find more adventures for Mr Hat.

What you like about The Stooki Movement? The thing I love about it is that you guys are very focused. You remind me of the Japanese who are always one step ahead. Also I feel you are confident within yourselves.  What I love the most is the abilty to inhabit different environments! Your community approach is not selfish, you always get people involved which shows your passion for the brand. You guys are like the grandparents, always inviting everybody in!! To sum up in one word: consistency.

The Legacy Story... Valtteri Laihanen

Quincey Williams

Check out the next instalment in the Stööki Legacy Story. The Stööki Craft Makers invited Stage Visual Producer Valtteri Laihanen to The House of Stööki at Somerset House for a catch up. Take a look the interview below and see how he rocks his Stööki Legacy Badge... #TheStookiLegacy

Name: Valtteri Laihanen

What’s your craft? Producer between digital and physical world. I like the interaction between those. The aim for the next project should always be made up of the best you can do, excitement and lots of love. Both failure and success are valuable teachers, whatever happens, you just begin more intelligently.

Song you can’t get out of your head? First song I heard this morning, MF Doom - Rhymes like dimes

Describe your Fashion style? Casually contemporary.

What’s your main source of inspiration & influence? I like the difference between contrasts, it is interesting to explore the dark side of humanity but also mix it up with brighter things in life. I find people who are competent and obscure stimulating. I think the only security I have is to try and push to change and evolve. Picasso quotes “inspiration exists but it has to find you working” and I think that is very true. Nothing lands on your lap apart from strippers.

Your ideal day off? Question everything, learn something and answer nothing.

Plans for 2014? Try to collaborate with interesting people and do projects that has a wide range of diversity. By developing film photos I realised the value of the moment until it becomes a memory, in that sense, moments matter.

What you like about The Stooki Movement? I had the distinct pleasure of working with you guys. What I experienced and found admirable is the collaborative attitude. I find it intriguing how you guys create a desirable atmosphere on everything you sink your teeth into.  The play between flat and 3D objects is interesting to see on various platforms.
